EARLY CHILDHOOD SERVICES

Services are provided in the areas of technical assistance, professional development and information sharing to and with school districts, parents and agencies regarding early childhood programs and services for all children from birth through age 8. Included are those who work with children in school districts, early learning initiative sites, early childhood education programs, preschool programs for children with disabilities, private and non-profit preschools and Kindergarten through third grade classrooms.

The Early Childhood Services Coordinator at the Northern Ohio SERRC acts as a liaison between the Ohio Department of Education, Office of Early Learning and School Readiness,  agencies and school districts that serve young children. The Center serves as a clearing-house for current information, legislation and reforms related to the needs of young children and their families and educators. Networking groups, study groups, workshops, and other professional development opportunities are supported. The Early Childhood Services Coordinator works with county interagency groups and community service agencies to promote comprehensive services for young children and their families. Transition within, into and out of local services is an ongoing area of support for schools, agencies, and families.
