INSERVICES AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Providing Erie, Huron and Lorain County with professional development is a major focus of the Northern Ohio SERRC. View our events list for 2007.
Each event SERRC offers is provided based on regional needs and because it is research based and meets the criteria of HQPD as established by ODE. A variety of formats are offered including lectures, hands-on-training, IVDL conferences, audioconferences, Elluminate interactive web session, teleconferencing, large and small group networking and presentations, and study and focus groups. Each event is tailored to adult learning and provides workshop participants an opportunity to evaluate the event's impact and effectiveness in meeting the needs of their students and their own professional growth.
A SERRC certificate of attendance is provided for SERRC sponsored inservices. Participants attending Early Childhood ODE Approved PD will receive special EC certificates based on their guidelines. College credit is offered when appropriate. OSPA-MCE's are offered for School Psychologists if the program meets their guidelines. MRDD employees can seek ceu credit from their supervisor for many of our events.
Efforts are being made to work with other entities (e.g. schools, educational service centers, MRDD facilities and other agencies) in order to provide comprehensive staff development to meet the needs of all who work with children. Collaborative efforts are continuing to increase across the region and state. This sort of collaboration has helped to reduce the duplication of inservices in the same area or with similar objectives.
